EMILYs List Endorses Eileen Higgins and Vi Lyles in Mayoral Races

August 27, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Eileen Higgins for mayor of Miami and Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles for reelection. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statements to celebrate their endorsements:

“Republican leaders are more interested in political games than doing what is best for Miami. Eileen has stepped up to restore trust and put the citizens of Miami first. She is a results-driven leader who has built affordable housing units, invested millions to strengthen hundreds of small businesses, and led efforts to expand transit. Eileen has fought hard for her community as a county commissioner, and she will continue her great work in city hall. EMILYs List is proud to endorse her as she runs to become the first woman mayor of Miami.”

“Mayor Vi Lyles is a battle tested leader with a track record of delivering stability and big wins for the city of Charlotte. She secured $150 million towards affordable housing projects and was instrumental in the robust expansion of the Charlotte Area Transit System. Vi has dedicated her public service career to the Queen City for nearly 40 years and prioritizes bipartisan wins to better serve her constituents. EMILYs List is proud to support her once again in her reelection.”

EMILYs List has also endorsed Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, New Orleans Council President Helena Moreno, and Detroit Council President Mary Sheffield in their mayoral races this fall.
