EMILYs List Endorses Dr. Eva Diaz for Reelection to the Arizona State Senate

June 13, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Dr. Eva Diaz for reelection to the Arizona state Senate. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“Dr. Eva Diaz has proven her ability to work on behalf of Arizonans and we are proud to endorse her for reelection to the state Senate. Arizona is a critical state in which we must flip the House and Senate to protect our reproductive rights. Diaz recently voted to repeal the archaic 1864 abortion ban and we are confident that she will continue to stand up to Arizona’s anti-choice extremists. She is committed to fighting for our fundamental freedoms and public education. EMILYs List is thrilled to support her for reelection and help secure a Democratic majority in the Arizona state Legislature.”

Dr. Eva Diaz is currently a member of the Arizona state Senate representing the 22nd Legislative District. Diaz is a longtime public school teacher, small business owner, and a resident of Tolleson, Arizona since 1992. Diaz is an experienced public servant, and formerly chaired Tolleson’s planning and zoning commission. While in the state Senate, she has fought for reproductive freedom and public education for Arizonans. Diaz proudly serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee, Government Committee, Military Affairs and Public Safety Committee, Joint Committee on Capital Review, Joint Legislative Audit Committee, and Joint Legislative Budget Committee.

EMILYs List endorsed Diaz in 2022 for her election to the Arizona state Senate as a write-in candidate.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
