WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List endorsed Delegate Delores McQuinn for re-election to the Virgina General Assembly.
“Delegate Delores McQuinn is a local minister and community leader with a proven history as an advocate for women’s reproductive rights, equal pay for equal work, and economic development in the distressed areas of her community,” said EMILYs List Senior Director of State and Local Campaigns Geri Prado. “EMILYs List is excited to support Delegate McQuinn in her run for re-election.”
Delegate Delores McQuinn was first elected to represent the 70th district in the Virginia General Assembly in 2009. Before her time in the House of Delegates, McQuinn served on both the Richmond City School Board and the Richmond City Council. A lifelong resident of Richmond, McQuinn has been married for 35 years to her husband Jonathan McQuinn. They have two children and are the proud grandparents of a three-year-old girl, Storie.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have trained over 9,000 women to run and helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color – including every single Latina, African American, and Asian American Democratic congresswoman currently serving.
