June 17, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Christina Bohannan for election to Iowa’s 1st Congressional District. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“As Trump continues creating chaos that is endangering America’s economic well-being and our livelihoods, we need proven leaders like Christina Bohannan who are ready to fight back. She is a champion for working families, strengthening public schools, and small businesses; and she is ready to stand strong against extremists in Congress to defend our fundamental freedoms. EMILYs List is proud to endorse her in this critical flip opportunity in Iowa’s 1st Congressional District.”

Christina Bohannan is a law professor, former engineer, and the former representative for Iowa’s 85th House District. When Bohannan was in high school, her dad got sick with emphysema and his health insurance was canceled. Her family had to choose between paying for his medicine and paying for everything else, but with the support of her public school teachers, student loans, scholarships, and hard work, Bohannan became the first in her family to graduate college. She worked her way through engineering school and then law school, graduated first in her law school class, and went on to clerk for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Bohannan later taught at the University of Iowa and in 2020, ran for the Iowa state House and defeated a 20-year incumbent. She served in the state legislature from 2021 to 2023.
