EMILYs List Endorses Audrey Denney for California’s 1st Congressional District

November 6, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Audrey Denney for California’s 1st Congressional District as part of the group’s first slate of endorsements in the state. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“An educator, nonprofit leader, and lifelong advocate for rural communities, Audrey Denney is ready to take her fight for Northern Californians to Congress. For too long, California’s 1st Congressional District has had a representative serving his own needs and corporate special interests over his constituents. This race is key to taking back the U.S. House majority, and EMILYs List is proud to endorse Audrey Denney to defeat Rep. Doug LaMalfa. Audrey is ready to fight for her community, lower costs, and protect earned benefits, and we’re proud to stand with her in this must-win race.”

This is part of EMILYs List first round of endorsements in key California Congressional races. After the passage of Prop. 50 in California, the 1st Congressional District shifted from “Solid Republican” to “Solid Democrat,” making it essential to take back the U.S. House of Representatives.

Audrey Denney grew up on her family’s farm on California’s Central Coast and moved to Chico to work her way through college, calling it home ever since. Whether it’s been helping food banks strengthen their systems, teaching at Chico State in the College of Agriculture, serving on the board of a local food pantry, or standing up for our democracy in Butte County, Audrey has remained rooted in service and committed to creating positive change. Audey is running for Congress to ensure California’s 1st Congressional District citizens have a leader who will fight to make the American Dream possible again.
