May 13, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Adelita Grijalva for election to Arizona’s 7th Congressional District. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“EMILYs List is proud to endorse Adelita Grijalva to represent Arizona’s 7th Congressional District. At a time when our nation is under assault by a reckless and cruel administration, we need bold and battle-tested leaders like Grijalva, a champion for working families who will fight for her community and to defend our fundamental rights and freedoms. She is ready to stand strong against Trump and his billionaire cronies. We are honored to support her in this election.”

Adelita Grijalva is a native Tucsonan and the former chair of the Pima County Board of Supervisors. Before joining the Board of Supervisors, Grijalva worked at a non-profit organization for 26 years helping young people and their families through a juvenile court diversion program. Grijalva was the first Latina elected to the Pima County Board of Supervisors and the first Latina, and only the second woman, to serve as chair. She is a strong advocate for the needs of Pima County and has worked with coalitions to address the biggest issues facing her community, including lowering the cost of housing, public education, and climate resiliency. As Pima County Board chair, she led efforts to rebuke the Arizona Supreme Court after they upheld the 1864 abortion ban, through a resolution urging doctors, lawyers, and health officials to disregard the ban in order to continue to provide services to women who need them. She is also the proud daughter of the late Congressman Raul Grijalva.

If elected, Grijalva would become the first Latina elected to Congress from Arizona.
