EMILYs List Displays Kamala Harris Mural Outside of DNCC

August 19, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Chicago, Ill. – As delegates and guests enter the United Center for the Democratic National Convention, EMILYs List is proud to share a large-scale mural of Vice President Kamala Harris in a show of support for her presidential campaign. The mural will be on display throughout the duration of the Democratic National Convention, until 6:00 p.m. CT on Thursday, Aug. 22, with opportunities to take photos, access limited giveaways, and learn about EMILYs List.

The mural was originally commissioned by Women Vote, EMILYs List’s independent expenditure arm, for an ad in 2020. The ad, which featured its creation by artists Ian Robertson-Salt and PeQue Brown, emphasized Harris’s strengths and encouraged voters to turn out in support of the Biden-Harris ticket.

The ad was conceived of and produced by 76 Words for Women Vote. The mural’s delivery was carried out by Teamsters union members and Carpenters union members assembled and will disassemble the mural by the end of the week.

EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“Vice President Kamala Harris is the best and most qualified candidate to lead this country. She is an accomplished and battled-tested leader, and a tireless advocate for our fundamental freedoms, including reproductive rights. EMILYs List has supported Harris from the beginning of her political career, endorsing her for each of her previous offices, and we could not be more excited and determined to help her make history as the next president of the United States.”

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
