FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulates Sen. Elizabeth Warren on her reelection victory to the United States Senate representing Massachusetts. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“EMILYs List is proud to congratulate Sen. Elizabeth Warren on her reelection to the U.S. Senate. She is a pro-choice champion who is passionate about serving her community and she is committed to protecting the fundamental freedoms of the American people. We look forward to watching her stand against anti-abortion extremists in the Senate and we are thrilled to see how she will continue to deliver for the people of Massachusetts.”

Sen. Elizabeth Warren is a two-term U.S. senator representing the people of Massachusetts. She is a fearless advocate who has made her life’s work the fight for middle class families. After Wall Street crashed our economy in 2008, she fought to create the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to protect people from getting tricked and scammed by big banks and corporations. When Senate Republicans vowed to block her nomination to serve as the CFPB’s first director, Warren went back home to Massachusetts and ran against one of them — and won! —  becoming the first female U.S. senator from Massachusetts. Her journey laid the foundation for the plans she has proposed and the change she has delivered, fighting to make sure everyone gets the same chances she got to succeed. EMILYs List has supported Sen. Warren in her U.S. Senate races since the 2012 election cycle.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
