FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulates Rep. Sharice Davids on her reelection to Kansas’ 3rd Congressional District. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“EMILYs List is thrilled to congratulate Rep. Sharice Davids on her reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives. Rep. Davids is a pro-choice champion who has made it her mission to restore reproductive freedoms in this nation. She is passionate about serving her community by ensuring economic opportunities, preserving and expanding affordable health care, and lowering costs so all Kansans can get ahead. We are excited to watch Rep. Davids enthusiastically defend our fundamental freedoms and stand up against extremism in Congress.”

Rep. Sharice Davids is a tireless fighter for Kansans in Congress. She was raised by a single mother Army veteran, and learned the value of hard work and service from a young age. As a member of the Ho-Chunk Nation, Rep. Davids made history in 2018 as one of the first Native American women elected to Congress. She worked her way from Johnson County Community College to Cornell Law School, before going to live and work on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. She served as a White House Fellow during the final year of the Obama administration. Rep. Davids has competed in mixed martial arts tournaments, fighting both professionally and as an amateur, and is the author of Sharice’s Big Voice: A Native Kid Becomes a Congresswoman, a picture book autobiography sharing her story with children. Rep. Davids is also the first openly LGBTQ+ member of the Kansas congressional delegation and the first Democratic woman to represent the 3rd Congressional District.

EMILYs List has been proud to support Rep. Davids in each of her congressional races.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
