EMILYs List Congratulates Rep. Kim Schrier on Her Reelection to Washington’s 8th Congressional District
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulates Rep. Kim Schrier on her reelection to Washington’s 8th Congressional District. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“EMILYs List is proud to congratulate Rep. Kim Schrier on reelection to Washington’s 8th Congressional District. She is the critical voice that Congress needs to continue fighting for adequate health care and ensure Americans have access to reproductive care. In this moment where abortion access is under attack, we know that Rep. Schrier will continue to fight for our fundamental freedoms.”
Rep. Kim Schrier is a pediatrician who serves in Congress to expand economic opportunity for working families in the state of Washington. She has dedicated her career to improving the lives of her patients and their families. After the 2016 election, she marched, protested, and called her elected officials to fight back against the agenda threatening to undo all the progress we’ve worked so hard to make. When Republicans began their effort to take away millions of working families’ access to affordable health care, she decided to step up and run for office for the very first time and won.
EMILYs List was proud to support Rep. Schrier for each of her Congressional races.
The EMILYs List community also contributed nearly $50,000 to Kim Schrier this cycle.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
