EMILYs List Congratulates 10 Democratic Pro-Choice Women on Winning their Primary Elections to the New Mexico State Legislature

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulates 10 Democratic pro-choice women on winning their primary elections and advancing to the general election to the New Mexico state Legislature. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

They have proven that they will fight on behalf of New Mexicans and we are thrilled to support them as they seek to continue their work. If elected, Michelle Paulene Abeyta and Angel Charley would become the first women to serve in their seats. Abeyta would also be the first Indigenous person to represent HD-69, a majority Native American district. Anita Gonzales would be the first woman and woman of color to represent HD-70 since 1970.
