EMILYs List Candidates Set Records With Q3 Fundraising Numbers
WASHINGTON, D.C. – EMILYs List candidates continue to report groundbreaking fundraising numbers from the third fiscal quarter of the year. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:
“EMILYs List is thrilled to celebrate the continued success of our outstanding women candidates. In addition to reelecting phenomenal public servants like Congresswoman Xochitl Torres Small, we are poised to flip these other seats from red to blue and send even more pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House. All of these women are fierce fighters for working families whose lived experiences as veterans, state legislators, teachers, and advocates are exactly what qualify them to lead. Their Republican opponents may have forgotten what it means to put people first, but our women know the challenges their communities face and they’ll be ready to serve on day one in Congress.”
- Wendy Davis (TX-21) raised $3.4 million, marking her most successful fundraising quarter of the cycle
- Hiral Tipirneni (AZ-06) raised $2.5 million, setting a new record of U.S. House candidate fundraising in Arizona
- Congresswoman Xochitl Torres Small (NM-02) raised $2.4 million
- Jackie Gordon (NY-02) raised $1.8 million, outraising her Republican opponent by more than $1 million
- Joyce Elliott (AR-02) raised $1.4 million, outraising her incumbent Republican opponent
- Carolyn Long (WA-03) raised over $1.24 million and 72% of contributions were local
- Desiree Tims (OH-10) raised $980K, the most any candidate has raised in an FEC quarter in the district
- Christina Finello (PA-01) raised $925K, outraising the incumbent Republican opponent
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILYs List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone. Since the 2016 election, more than 55,000 women have reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state, and national offices.
