EMILYs List and Future Forward Launch More Than $6M in “Real Stories” Ads to Women Under 40

September 17, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, and Future Forward (FF PAC) are beginning a new $6.3 million advertising campaign to women under the age of 40 contrasting Vice President Kamala Harris’ commitment to restoring abortion rights and Donald Trump’s responsibility for overturning Roe v. Wade. The ad campaign features testimonials from doctors and nurses making clear the consequences of putting politicians in charge of making these decisions instead of women. Women under 40 are a critical voting bloc – likely one out of every five battleground voters. And they’re overwhelmingly pro-choice.

“With our rights at stake, it’s critical that voters understand who will fight for their freedom and who will work to undermine it. The choice between Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump could not be more clear. That’s why we have been educating these critical voters all summer about Vice President Harris’ commitment to protect abortion access. This partnership with Future Forward will allow us to continue this critical work into
the fall,’ said Melissa Williams, Executive Director of EMILYs List’s independent expenditure operation, Women Vote.

Every Shift

The ad campaign will use the powerful, story-telling creative to reach women under 40 across multiple screens – YouTube, connected TV, streaming services, and other digital platforms. The ad campaign will run in battleground states of Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. This program builds on Women Vote’s ongoing digital-first campaign to this audience. As the nationwide voter mobilization and education project of EMILYs List, Women Vote mobilizes women voters to support Vice President Harris’ election to the White House. “Our program highlights the real-life impacts and stories of what’s at stake: Kamala Harris, who will always protect abortion rights and believes these decisions should be made between patients and their doctors, and Donald Trump, who gives politicians like himself the power to take these rights away,” said FF PAC President Chauncey McLean. “Just this past weekend, Donald Trump boasted again that he terminated Roe v. Wade, ending these rights, and we’re working with EMILYs List to make sure everyone knows the consequences.”

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
