324 Days: EMILY's List Recognizes Latina Equal Pay Day

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, EMILY's List President Stephanie Schriock released the following statement recognizing Latina Equal Pay Day, the date into 2019 that Latinas must work to earn as much as white, non-Hispanic men made at the end of the previous year:

“It's unacceptable that despite the invaluable contributions of Latinas to America's economic progress, they earn only 54 cents on the dollar as white, non-Hispanic men. That means, despite completing the same job, Latinas must work nearly two years to earn what white men earn in just one.”

“The continued gender-based wage gap of all women is both shocking and wrong. Now more than ever, we need more diverse women in Congress — and in elected office up and down the ballot — who share the experiences of Latinas and will fight to close the wage gap for good.”

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls.
