EMILYs List Endorses Mayor Tishaura Jones for Reelection as Mayor of St. Louis

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Mayor Tishaura Jones for reelection as mayor of St. Louis. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“Mayor Tishaura Jones is an accomplished public servant who consistently puts her constituents first. We are thrilled to endorse her for reelection as St. Louis mayor. Mayor Jones is an innovative leader who has made it possible for citizens to understand and participate in government, and her impactful leadership has motivated efforts to address poverty and reduce crime, implemented workforce development programs, and helped the City of St. Louis earn and save over $30 million and counting. EMILYs List is honored to support her in this reelection campaign and we look forward to watching her continue her great work as mayor.”
Mayor Tishaura Jones is currently the mayor of St. Louis. She is the city’s first Black woman mayor. She earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Hampton University and a master’s degree in health administration from the Saint Louis University School of Public Health. Mayor Jones began her public service career in 2002 when she was appointed as Democratic committeewoman of the 8th Ward in the City of St. Louis. She served two terms in the Missouri House of Representatives, and was selected as the first Black woman in Missouri history to hold the position of assistant minority floor leader. Additionally, she was the first Black woman to be elected to serve as treasurer of St. Louis from 2013-2021. Mayor Jones displays unwavering commitment to the people of St. Louis and she has helped make city government easier to navigate, easier to participate in, and easier to understand.
