EMILYs List Congratulates Sen. Jacky Rosen on Her Reelection to the United States Senate
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulates Sen. Jacky Rosen on her reelection to represent Nevada in the United States Senate. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“EMILYs List is proud to congratulate Sen. Jacky Rosen on her reelection to the U.S. Senate. In her first term, Sen. Rosen fought to lower costs for hardworking families, improve access to health care, and protect reproductive rights. We are thrilled to have protected this Democratic seat in a critical battleground state, and we look forward to watching Sen. Rosen continue her meaningful work in the U.S. Senate.”
EMILYs List’s independent expenditure arm, Women Vote, invested $1.2 million to help reelect Sen. Rosen through a direct mail program. The program highlighted Republican Sam Brown’s support for an extreme abortion ban and his leadership of the Nevada branch of a group that wants to ban abortion.
The EMILYs List community also raised nearly $630,000 for Sen. Rosen this cycle.
Sen. Jacky Rosen ran for the U.S. Senate to fight for the working families of Nevada, the state she has called home for over 40 years. She is the granddaughter of immigrants and the daughter of a World War II veteran, and grew up in a working class family. Before running for office, Rosen served for three years as president of the largest Reform synagogue in Nevada. In 2016, Rosen ran for Congress and won, flipping a highly competitive Republican-held district. EMILYs List was with her every step of the way. In 2018, she ran for U.S. Senate and was the only Democratic challenger in the country to unseat a Republican incumbent that year, making her the second woman senator in Nevada history. She is also the first computer programmer and the first former synagogue president ever elected to the Senate.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
