EMILYs List Congratulates Rep. Brittany Pettersen on Her Reelection in Colorado’s 7th Congressional District
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulates Rep. Brittany Pettersen on her reelection in Colorado’s 7th Congressional District. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“EMILYs List is proud to congratulate Rep. Brittany Pettersen on her reelection. Coloradans have witnessed firsthand her tireless work for her community — championing voting rights and reproductive freedom. She is a dedicated public servant who puts her constituents’ needs first and won’t back down from any fight. Rep. Pettersen has stood up against anti-abortion extremists in Congress and will continue to do so until our reproductive freedom is restored. We look forward to watching her continue the fight for progressive issues in Congress.”
Rep. Brittany Pettersen has dedicated her career to civic engagement and public service. She was the first member of her family to graduate from high school and college. After working on President Obama’s 2008 campaign, where she worked on voter registration and advocacy in Colorado, she was inspired to run a grassroots campaign herself. In 2012, she became the youngest woman serving in the Colorado House, where she fought for equal pay, public school investment, and improved mental health care. After ten years of legislative success in the state House, Pettersen ran for Congress in 2022 and became the first woman to represent her district. Pettersen is particularly focused on consumer protections and housing affordability, serving on the House Financial Services Committee. Pettersen was first endorsed by EMILYs List in 2017.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
