Women Vote Launches New Ad Highlighting Hogan’s Bragging on Anti-Abortion Record

September 23, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List’s Women Vote announced a new independent expenditure ad for Maryland’s U.S. Senate race highlighting Republican Senate candidate Larry Hogan’s own remarks on his anti-abortion record. Hogan, who is attempting a brazen election year conversion, clearly states his opposition to abortion and brags about his veto of legislation that would have protected abortion access in Maryland because he was against it.

The ad titled “His Words” will air on Washington, D.C. and Baltimore broadcast and cable TV. That brings the total investment from EMILYs List’s Women Vote to $4.3 million in the general election for Alsobrooks.  Jessica Mackler, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement on the ad buy:

“Republican candidate Larry Hogan has chosen to mislead voters on his unpopular anti-choice agenda, so we decided to roll back the tapes and show them what he really stands for. Maryland is a solidly pro-choice state and an extremist like Hogan, Mitch McConnell’s top recruit, is out of step with our values. We look forward to electing Angela Alsobrooks, a fierce pro-choice champion who is ready to fight for our freedoms.”

Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office.
