Women Vote Invests $2.65 Million in Wisconsin Senate Race, Highlights Hovde’s Anti-Abortion Extremism

September 3, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List’s Women Vote announced an independent expenditure for Wisconsin’s U.S. Senate race in support of Sen. Tammy Baldwin, highlighting Eric Hovde’s extreme anti-abortion stance. Starting today, EMILYs List’s Women Vote will air the TV ad titled “Pay Attention” statewide in Wisconsin media markets at a total cost of $2.65 million.

Jessica Mackler, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement on the ad buy:

“With so much at stake, we must send Sen. Tammy Baldwin back to the Senate to defend our rights. While Eric Hovde is adamantly opposed to abortion and would work to ban reproductive health care, Sen. Tammy Baldwin will fight for our most fundamental freedoms. Let’s be clear: Americans and Wisconsinites cannot trust Eric Hovde with our most personal health care decisions. The choice this November is obvious.”

Women need to pay close attention to what Eric Hovde says about access to abortion.
Hovde’s all in about opposing reproductive rights.
Hovde: “I am totally opposed to abortion.”
And he wanted Roe overturned.
“Do you think Roe versus Wade should be overturned?”
Hovde: “Yes.”
So Eric Hovde is okay with politicians overruling decisions of doctors like me.
My patients worry about what Hovde will take away next.
A vote for Eric Hovde means we’ll lose even more control over our lives.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
