EMILYs List Endorses Ann Johnson Stewart for Minnesota Senate District 45

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed former state Sen. Ann Johnson Stewart for Minnesota Senate District 45. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“EMILYs List is thrilled to endorse Ann Johnson Stewart for the Minnesota state Senate. Johnson Stewart is a reproductive rights activist who understands the experience of women who do not have a safe haven while seeking reproductive care. This pro-choice champion will ensure Minnesotans’ fundamental freedoms remain protected and she will fight against MAGA extremists attempting to strip away our rights. We are proud to support her in this election as she continues to make a lasting impact on the lives of Minnesotans.”
Ann Johnson Stewart is a civil engineer, small business owner, and former Minnesota state senator. With EMILYs List support, she was first elected to the state Senate in 2021, where she represented District 44. Johnson Stewart earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and a master’s degree in civil engineering at the University of Minnesota. Her parents were both educators and taught her the value of education, and through her legislative work, she has fought to ensure every child has access to world class education through strong public schools. Her experiences as a young person witnessing women being harassed by protestors while seeking reproductive care motivated her to stand up and fight for reproductive rights. Later, she became a clinic escort offering support to women in their time of need. She continued her activism as a staunch pro-choice supporter by being on the board of the Pro-Choice Minnesota (formerly NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota), and she is a founder of the Pro-Choice Caucus in the Minnesota Legislature. Johnson Stewart is committed to standing up against MAGA extremists and she is ready to bring her commonsense approach to policy back to the Minnesota state Senate.
