EMILYs List Endorses Shannon Chandley and Donna Soucy for Reelection to the New Hampshire State Senate
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed state Sen. Shannon Chandley for New Hampshire Senate District 11 and state Sen. Donna Soucy for New Hampshire Senate District 18. EMILYs List Interim President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“State Sens. Shannon Chandley and Donna Soucy have been steadfast pro-choice champions during their time in office, continuing to fight for our rights even as the state’s extremist Republicans do everything in their power to put reproductive health care out of reach for Granite Staters. To flip the New Hampshire state legislature, we need to hold every blue seat. EMILYs List is proud to endorse Sens. Chandley and Soucy for reelection because we know that they will continue to stand up to extremism and deliver results for the people of their districts.”
Shannon Chandley is a nearly two-decade resident of Amherst who served three terms in the New Hampshire state House of Representatives before being elected to the state Senate in 2022. In office, she has passed critical legislation to improve government transparency and been a strong advocate for Granite Staters. Chandley is also a director on the board of the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. EMILYs List also endorsed Chandley in 2018, 2020, and 2022.
Donna Soucy has been a New Hampshire state senator since 2012 and currently serves as the chamber’s minority leader. Before being elected to the state Senate, she served three terms as a state representative, two terms as a Manchester alderman, nearly four terms on the Manchester school board, and as the first female chair of the Manchester fire commission. In the state legislature, Soucy has led efforts to expand Medicaid, reduce prescription drug costs, and provide protections for survivors of domestic violence. EMILYs List has endorsed Soucy in every cycle since 2012.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
