EMILYs List Congratulates Susan Wild on Reelection Victory in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulates Susan Wild on her reelection to the United States House of Representatives. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:
“EMILYs List celebrates Susan Wild’s reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives. This pro-choice champion is a tenacious advocate for the Lehigh Valley, committed to creating economic opportunity and promoting affordable and accessible health care, education, and housing. We’re thrilled she has won this critical race, and are eager to continue supporting her as she fights for every Pennsylvanian in Congress.”
Susan Wild is an experienced community advocate running for reelection to Congress to fight for Pennsylvania working families. Wild grew up in a military family, moving frequently, but found home when she moved to the Lehigh Valley more than 30 years ago to raise her family. An experienced attorney, she has dedicated her career to advocating for fairness and equal justice in her practice that includes health care, civil rights, and employment law. In 2015, the Allentown City Council unanimously confirmed her appointment to serve as city solicitor, the first woman to hold the position, and accountability and transparency increased under her leadership. Wild has served her community on the boards of her local food bank, regional theater, and Jewish federation. She is the proud mother of two grown children, has one dog Zoey, and supports local animal rescue organizations. She is also the only Jewish member of the Pennsylvania Congressional delegation.
Women Vote, EMILY's List's independent expenditure arm, invested $234,000 in a television program highlighting Wild’s opponent’s anti-abortion stance and her track record of catering to businesses outside of the country.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised over $700 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure campaigns for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country's first woman as vice president, 159 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,400 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
