EMILYs List Congratulates Lucy McBath on Advancing to the General Election in Georgia’s 7th Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulated Lucy McBath on advancing to the general election in Georgia’s 7th Congressional District. Laphonza Butler, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

After 30 years working as a flight attendant, Lucy McBath has focused her second career on advocating for reforms that will make America safer for all families. In 2012, McBath’s son, Jordan Davis, was shot and killed at a gas station while playing music in his car. Losing her son to gun violence intensified McBath’s lifelong commitment to community activism and social justice. Prior to running for office, McBath served as a national spokesperson and faith organizer for Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action, advocating for gun violence prevention in Washington and state capitols all over America. In Washington, McBath works tirelessly to ensure our communities are safe places where all working families can thrive.
