EMILYs List Endorses Cori Bush in Missouri’s 1st Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Cori Bush in Missouri’s 1st Congressional District. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“Cori Bush is a tireless public servant and champion for justice and EMILYs List is honored to endorse her for Congress in Missouri’s 1st Congressional District. A lifelong St. Louisan, a pastor, and single mother who served as a medic on the streets of Ferguson, there is no one better suited to represent her community in Washington. Powerful Black women like Cori are the backbone of the Democratic Party, and her leadership in Congress will be an inspiration to so many, not just in Missouri, but across the nation. Cori is an unapologetic advocate for progress and an outspoken proponent of change who has never shied away from a challenge. We are grateful for her leadership and we look forward to her election as the first Black woman to represent Missouri in Congress.” 

Cori Bush is an experienced community leader running for Congress to fight for St. Louis families. Cori was raised in a family that taught her the importance of social action, and she has dedicated her career to serving her community. Cori, a single mother, understands the struggles that St. Louis families face because she has lived them. Cori earned a nursing degree and served as a nursing supervisor for a community-based mental health agency. She went on to serve as a pastor and emerged as a community leader through her work on the front lines of the protests in Ferguson, Missouri, in the wake of the police killing of unarmed Black teenager Michael Brown.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates.
