EMILYs List Endorses Three More Women Leaders for the Florida Legislature
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed three more women leaders for the Florida Legislature. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:
“EMILYs List is thrilled to endorse three more distinguished public servants for the Florida Legislature. We’re proud to stand with women who have helped their community heal from the trauma of a mass shooting, fought for a more equitable criminal justice system, and advocated for people with disabilities. Their commitment to equality and fairness makes them especially qualified to serve in the Florida Legislature, where they will hold Republicans and Governor DeSantis accountable. With the stakes so high for redistricting and reproductive freedom in the next legislative session, we’re excited to flip the state Senate and stand with these pro-choice champions who will fight tirelessly for their constituents.”
EMILYs List endorsed the following women:
Kathy Lewis (SD-20)
Michele Rayner (HD-70)
Christine Hunschofsky (HD-96)
These endorsements are in addition to the 21 previously endorsed EMILYs List candidates in Florida: Loranne Ausley (SD-03), Patricia Sigman (SD-09), Tina Polsky (SD-29), Allison Tant (HD-09), Kayser Enneking (HD-21), Tracey Kagan (HD-29), Joy Goff-Marcil (HD-30), Geraldine Thompson (HD-44), Anna Eskamani (HD-47), Julie Jenkins (HD-60), Jennifer Webb (HD-69), Kelly Skidmore (HD-81), Delores Hogan Johnson (HD-84), Linda Thompson Gonzalez (HD-93), Felicia Robinson (HD-102), Cindy Polo (HD-103), Robin Bartleman (HD-104), Maureen Porras (HD-105), Dotie Joseph (HD-108), Franccesca Cesti-Browne (HD-115) and Daniella Levine Cava (Miami-Dade County Mayor).
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILYs List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone. Since the 2016 election, more than 55,000 women have reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state, and national offices.
