Women Vote Announces $2 Million Program in Iowa Senate Race
Theresa Greenfield Relied on Social Security, Senator Ernst Would Privatize It
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Women Vote, the independent expenditure arm of EMILYs List, unveiled a $2 million program in the dead heat Iowa Senate race between Theresa Greenfield and Senator Joni Ernst. The program is targeting rural women, and will include radio, mail, digital, and satellite and addressable television advertising.
“Senator Ernst promised to ‘make ‘em squeal’ but when she got to Washington she became another politician feeding at the corporate trough,” said Melissa Williams, vice president of independent expenditures at EMILYs List. “Iowans count on Social Security like Theresa Greenfield did when she used survivor benefits to help raise her two boys. Senator Ernst got more than $800,000 from Wall Street. That’s why she’s open to raising the retirement age and privatizing Social Security, which would make her donors billions. Iowa deserves a farm kid with farm kid values, not another Washington sellout.”
