EMILYs List Endorses Five Women Leaders for State and Local Office in Colorado
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed five women leaders for state and local office in Colorado. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:
“EMILYs List is thrilled to support two more women for the Colorado state House, who will unapologetically fight for progressive values and lift up working families and small businesses every day in Denver. We’re also proud to endorse a slate of outstanding women in their bids for district attorney. Once elected, they will restore transparency and accountability to the criminal justice system, prioritize public safety, and stand up for marginalized communities that bear the brunt of a broken, inequitable system. Pro-choice Democratic women up and down the ticket continue to change the face of power across Colorado and we can’t wait to see these five public servants win in November.”
EMILYs List endorsed the following women:
Naquetta Ricks (HD-40)
Jennifer Mitkowski (HD-43)
Alexis King (District Attorney, Judicial District 1)
Kaitlin Turner (District Attorney, Judicial District 11)
Amy Padden (District Attorney, Judicial District 18)
These endorsements are in addition to 25 women EMILYs List has already endorsed in Colorado: Joann Ginal (SD-14), Sonya Jaquez Lewis (SD-17), Rachel Zenzinger (SD-19), Paula Dickerson (SD-25), Janet Buckner (SD-28), Rhonda Fields (SD-29), Meg Froelich (HD-03), Jennifer Bacon (HD-07), Karen McCormick (HD-11), Tracey Bernett (HD-12), Judy Amabile (HD-13), Monica Duran (HD-24), Lisa Cutter (HD-25), Brianna Titone (HD-27), Kerry Tipper (HD-28), Lindsey Daugherty (HD-29), Dafna Michaelson Jenet (HD-30), Yadira Caraveo (HD-31), Shannon Bird (HD-35), Iman Jodeh (HD-41), Daneya Esgar (HD-46), Bri Buentello (HD-47), Mary Young (HD-50), Cathy Kipp (HD-52), and Barbara McLachlan (HD-59).
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILYs List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone. Since the 2016 election, more than 55,000 women have reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state, and national offices.
