EMILYs List Condemns Georgia’s Dangerous and Unconstitutional Abortion Ban
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed a dangerous abortion ban that outlaws abortion as early as six weeks — before many women even know that they are pregnant. In response, Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:
“Today Georgia became the 4th state this year, following Kentucky, Mississippi and Ohio, to pass a six-week abortion ban. Banning abortion before many women even know they are pregnant isn’t just cruel and unjust, it is blatantly unconstitutional and part of anti-choice activists’ ongoing push for Donald Trump’s Supreme Court to eventually overturn Roe v. Wade. This onslaught of attacks on women’s ability to make choices is a strong reminder of how much is at stake at the ballot box in every election. EMILYs List remains committed to electing pro-choice Democratic women up and down the ballot in Georgia and across the country, who will stop the Republican Party’s anti-woman agenda and fight for policies that help women and families.”
