EMILY's List Statement on Georgia's Gubernatorial Election

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Stacey Abrams ended her campaign in Georgia's gubernatorial race. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“We are so inspired by Stacey Abrams, a fearless and pragmatic leader whose hard-fought and aspirational campaign has made Georgia a place where Democrats can win. If Brian Kemp had stepped down from overseeing an election in which he himself was the candidate — akin to being both the player and the ref — we may have had a different result. His flagrant and widespread use of voter intimidation tactics and overall suppression will continue to hang over his administration. We hope to see Georgia’s voters hold him accountable. In the meantime, we congratulate Stacey on remaining true to her values and creating a brand new coalition in the Peach State — one in which every citizen has a voice. We have stood with Stacey throughout her career, and will continue to support and encourage her leadership in whatever form it takes next.”
