EMILYs List Endorses Kelda Roys for Governor of Wisconsin
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Kelda Roys for governor of Wisconsin. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:
“Kelda Roys is a champion for Wisconsin’s families who is running to make history as the state’s first woman governor. She is an experienced leader who, as Democratic caucus chair in the state Assembly, supported progressive legislation on health care, economic justice, and more. Kelda is an entrepreneur who knows how to create jobs, and is a strong advocate for women and fought hard to protect the right to choose as executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin. These accomplishments and more make her the best choice to serve in Wisconsin’s highest office.
“Kelda is running to challenge vulnerable incumbent Republican Governor Scott Walker, a dangerous extremist seeking a third term to advance an agenda that hurts Wisconsin working families. Democrats gained ground in recent special elections that Walker tried to prevent, and the GOP is desperate to maintain control of this battleground state. When elected, Kelda will bring proven leadership and Wisconsin values to the governor’s office. Kelda Roys is currently the CEO of the small business she founded and has served as a state representative. Kelda was elected to the Wisconsin state legislature in 2008 after knocking on thousands of doors in her community. As a state representative, she held listening sessions with Wisconsinites — at forums, in coffee shops, and even on public buses — and made their voices heard as their champion in Madison. She is the mom of two young daughters and stepmom of two teens, and she and her husband are proud to raise their family in the Badger State.
