EMILYs List Congratulates State Senator-Elect Stephanie Hansen on Her Victory in Delaware
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, released the following statement congratulating EMILYs List candidate Stephanie Hansen on her win in the Delaware state Senate (DE-SD10).
“EMILYs List is proud to congratulate Stephanie Hansen on her hard-fought victory,” said Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List. “Stephanie has always worked tirelessly for the people of Delaware throughout her career as an environmental lawyer and as a local elected official. Stephanie will be a strong voice for addressing statewide substance abuse, ending gender discrimination in pay, and protecting Medicare. The EMILYs List community is proud to have supported a leader like Stephanie throughout her campaign and we especially want to thank those who signed up to volunteer for her campaign through our newly launched Run to Win program. Our volunteers in Delaware and the surrounding area who signed up to ‘Help a Woman Run’ helped Stephanie secure her victory by knocking on doors and participating in other GOTV activities on Election Day. Stephanie’s seat was a crucial win for the Delaware state Senate that enabled Democrats to continue to hold the majority.”
EMILYs List’s independent expenditure arm, Women Vote, partnered with labor and the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee to fund the multi-channel independent expenditure effort highlighting Stephanie’s progressive record.
EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have trained nearly 10,000 women to run and helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILY’s List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color – including every single Latina, African American, and Asian American Democratic congresswoman currently serving.
