EMILY’s List Statement on Hillary Clinton’s Acceptance of the Democratic Nomination

WASHINGTON, D.C.- In response to Hillary Clinton’s speech tonight officially accepting the Democratic nomination for president, EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, released the following statement:

“The Democratic Party’s decision to nominate Hillary Clinton for president is truly groundbreaking,” said Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILY’s List. “As a lifelong public servant, Hillary persevered and continued fighting for the American people in spite of the challenges that come with being a woman in a male-dominated field. With her exceptional leadership skills, and belief that we are stronger together, she is the most qualified candidate for president. Hillary Clinton champions progressive ideals that will unify our country and even the playing field for women and families. She has ushered in the most progressive Democratic party platform in history. This nomination is a monumental step forward in women’s long-fought battle for equality, and the EMILY’s List community is proud to continue supporting Hillary Clinton in her historic bid to be our first woman president.”

EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $400 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making it one of the most successful political organizations ever. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research women's issues, and turn out women voters. We've trained over 9,000 women to run and helped elect over 100 women to the House, 19 to the Senate, 11 governors, and over 700 to state and local office. Since its founding in 1985, almost one-third of the candidates EMILY’s List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color - including every single Latina, African American, and Asian American Democratic congresswoman currently serving.
