A champion for Oklahoma working families
Kendra Horn is a proven community leader running for re-election to Congress to fight for Oklahoma working families. She is a fifth-generation Oklahoman, raised in a family with a strong commitment to service and the Sooner State values that guide her today. Kendra earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Tulsa, and then went on to earn her law degree to make a difference for others. Kendra has experience working in the aerospace industry, Oklahoma’s second largest public sector employer, and has served as an executive director of two nonprofits dedicated to supporting women’s leadership. In 2017, she stepped up to run for office herself to fight for her community as a first-time candidate. “Through my work in the public and private sector I have learned you need innovative thinking to inspire change,” she has said. Oklahoma had never before elected a Democratic woman to Congress until Kendra became the first with her historic victory in 2018. In Congress, Kendra works tirelessly to solve the toughest problems facing Oklahoma working families.
A leader fighting to expand economic opportunity
Kendra is running for re-election to Congress to expand economic opportunity and to help create good-paying jobs for all hardworking Oklahoma families. She is a powerful advocate for policies that give all Oklahomans the chance to thrive. “Investing in economic development and education is critical for middle-class Oklahoma families,” she has said. “Our leaders need to protect access to health care and education, because our cities and towns suffer when families lose access to health care and schools.” At a time when the far right is desperate to undo the progress we’ve worked so hard to make, she is fighting back and working to expand all Oklahomans’ access to quality affordable health care.
A must-win re-election fight
Kendra flipped Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional District in 2018 — a remarkable victory in a district that had been under GOP control for 44 years and that Trump won by 13.7 percentage points in 2016. As the only Democratic member of the state’s congressional delegation, she works tirelessly to ensure that every Oklahoman has a voice at the table. Now she faces a tough re-election fight against Republicans doing everything in their power to take this seat back. With so much at stake in 2020, let’s show Kendra the full support of the EMILY’s List community to keep this champion for Oklahoma working families in the House and in the majority.
