An experienced leader fighting for Virginia's working families
Jennifer Wexton is an experienced leader and advocate for justice running for re-election to Congress to continue fighting for Virginia’s working families. Jennifer has previously served Loudon County as a state senator, as a substitute judge, special justice, and assistant commonwealth’s attorney. She successfully prosecuted and tried cases ranging from criminals who committed domestic violence to misdemeanor traffic cases. In the state Senate, she passed over 40 bills in the last four years she was in office, proving herself to be an effective bipartisan legislator. Jennifer ran a successful grassroots campaign in 2018, and now serves Virginia’s 10th Congressional District in Congress. Until her victory, Republicans had controlled this seat for 60 of the past 66 years. Jennifer is a Washington-area native who lives in Leesburg with her husband, two sons, and two rescued labrador retrievers.
A champion for expanding economic opportunity and justice for all
Jennifer is dedicated to expanding economic opportunity for Northern Virginia families. As a state senator, she was involved in the successful efforts to expand Medicaid to about 400,000 Virginians who previously didn’t qualify. Jennifer built bipartisan support in the state Senate for important legislation, including laws that have empowered victims of revenge porn, made online pedophiles easier to prosecute, and secured a woman’s right to breastfeed in public. As a former prosecutor and judge, Jennifer is committed to justice and equality for all Virginians. Now serving her first term in Congress, these values and her strong work ethic guide this fierce advocate for working families.
A must-win re-election fight in a swing seat
Jennifer flipped this seat from red to blue in 2018, and now she faces a tough re-election fight against Republicans doing everything in their power to take it back. The EMILY’s List community is proud to continue standing with this outstanding leader. With so much at stake in 2020, let’s show Jennifer the full support of the EMILY’s List community to keep this champion for Virginia working families in the House and in the majority.
