Haley Stevens
A public servant who helped lead Michigan’s auto recovery and saved thousands of jobs
Rep. Haley Stevens is a leader in advanced manufacturing and a public servant who ran for reelection to Congress to continue her fight for Michigan working families. As the daughter of a CEO mother and public school teacher father who started a small business together, Rep. Stevens knows what it takes to work hard and make a difference. She served as a political appointee under President Obama, serving as chief of staff for the Treasury Department’s Auto Task Force and as a special advisor for the Department of Commerce. She played a key role in restoring the financial stability of the auto industry and helped save thousands of Michigan jobs during the recession. She worked tirelessly to help set up the Office of Recovery for Automotive Communities and Workers and the White House Office of Manufacturing Policy, federal offices that contributed to the creation of new jobs for hardworking Michiganders. Prior to serving in Congress, Rep. Stevens led a national workforce development program and launched a STEM education initiative for middle and high school students. Born and raised in Oakland County, she is a proud resident of Rochester Hills.
A leader dedicated to creating Great Lake State jobs
Rep. Stevens is dedicated to expanding economic opportunity for all Michiganders and to creating good-paying jobs that will help southeastern Michigan communities thrive. She has worked tirelessly to help pass the landmark COVID-19 relief package that includes a critical provision to fully protect the hard-earned retirement of tens of thousands of Michiganders — a policy she has fiercely advocated for, solving one of the problems she ran for Congress to fix. “Our economy needs a strong middle class to thrive. Unions are essential to strengthening America’s middle class and improving the lives of workers and their families,” Rep. Stevens has said, and she recently cosponsored and helped pass the Protecting the Right to Organize Act. “When workers have the power to stand together and form a union, they have higher wages, better benefits, and safer working conditions. I am proud to stand with my brothers and sisters in labor.” Now more than ever, Michigan and our country need her perspective and experience in Congress.
Victory in a must-win reelection fight
Rep. Stevens flipped this seat blue in 2018, and she successfully defended it in 2020 and again in 2022. With so much of our progress at stake, we showed Rep. Stevens the full support of the EMILY’s List community and helped keep this champion for Michigan working families in the House.
