A proven leader and dedicated public servant
Christina Finello is a proven leader and committed public servant running for Congress to fight for Pennsylvania working families. A fifth-generation Pennsylvanian, Christina grew up in Bucks County in a tight-knit Irish-Italian family that taught her the value of service and hard work. She earned a joint law degree and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Villanova Law and Drexel University, and dedicated her career to serving the Pennsylvania community she loves. Christina has served as deputy director of the Bucks County Department of Housing and Human Services for five years, working to improve government systems for care delivery. She has worked with the Philadelphia Veterans Court to connect the region’s veterans with high-quality services. Since 2017 she has served as the only Democrat on the seven-member elected Ivyland Borough Council. Christina has served on the board of Alpha Bravo Canine, connecting veterans with combat-related injuries with well-trained service dogs, and serves on the regional advisory board of the YMCA of Bucks County. Christina and her husband are the proud parents of two daughters, and live in the community of Ivyland. When elected, she will fight for Pennsylvania working families every day.
A champion for Pennsylvania working families
Christina is a fierce advocate for expanding access to quality health care, an issue that is deeply personal to her and her family. Before the Affordable Care Act, Christina was due with her first child when her family’s new insurance company told her she might not be covered because her pregnancy was considered a “preexisting condition.” She worried about how the unexpected bill could impact her family’s finances, and has said she was “shattered” by the stress at such a vulnerable time. “I’m a big believer in expanding what works,” she said of the Affordable Care Act. “It doesn’t help us to go back to square one.” As COVID-19 causes challenges in her community and across the country, Christina is focused on expanding economic opportunity. She grew up in a hardworking family, and learned firsthand what it’s like to only be a check away from financial ruin before her father got a steady, good-paying union job, and her family found middle class stability. When elected, Christina will fight tirelessly for all hardworking families to have the opportunity to thrive in a rapidly-changing economy.
An opportunity to flip a Keystone State seat from red to blue
Christina is challenging Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, a vulnerable incumbent whose record of failure has hurt the working families he was elected to serve. Fitzpatrick is one of only two Republican House members running for reelection in districts where Hillary Clinton bested Trump in 2016, and his deep-pocketed special interest allies will do everything they can to hang on to this seat. Christina is working tirelessly to build a formidable grassroots campaign, and she has what it takes to turn this seat blue with our help. This is a prime opportunity to flip a seat and strengthen our House majority. Let’s show Christina the full support of the EMILY’s List community and help elect this champion for Pennsylvania working families to Congress.
