State Rep. Shannon Bird was raised by a single mother and grandmother who worked long hours to keep their family afloat. They taught her the values that still guide her today: work hard, give back, and always fight for what’s right. She understands firsthand how difficult it is for families to get by, and she knows Donald Trump’s agenda is making life even harder for those already struggling. 

Shannon studied economics at The University of Colorado Boulder and later earned graduate degrees in finance and business administration from the University of Colorado and law from the University of Denver. After a career in public finance and corporate law, she started working in her community — volunteering at her children’s school, chairing a district bond campaign, and co-founding a community organization dedicated to empowering students, parents, and educators to build more equitable learning environments. That commitment to service eventually led her to run for Westminster City Council and later for the Colorado state House, where she chaired the Joint Budget Committee.

Putting Colorado Families First

In the state Legislature, Shannon championed policies to strengthen Colorado’s economy for working families. Her record reflects the same values with which she was raised: service, responsibility, and standing up for those who need it most. She has been a tireless advocate for Coloradans — defending reproductive freedom, expanding access to affordable housing, and working to get dangerous weapons away from criminals. She supported job creation and small businesses, passed the law that fully funded Colorado’s public schools for the first time in over a decade, and fought to make sure every community can thrive.

Shannon’s leadership is grounded in real life experience. She knows what families are up against, and how to bring people together to solve tough problems. As a state representative, she has consistently put people over politics and delivered results that matter.

Path to Take Back the U.S.House

Shannon is running for Colorado’s 8th Congressional District, currently held by Republican Rep. Gabe Evans, who narrowly won the seat in 2024 and has been unwavering in his support for Donald Trump and Republicans’ dangerous agenda. In 2026, this race is one of the most consequential Congressional battles in the country. With her proven record and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of Coloradans, Shannon is the battle-tested candidate who can win this competitive seat and ensure Colorado continues moving forward.
