Lizzie Fletcher

A Native Houstonian

Rep. Lizzie Fletcher has Houston in her DNA. Born at Hermann Hospital and raised in the 7th Congressional District, she has lived, worked, and built her life in the community she now represents in Congress.

After graduating from St. John’s School, Kenyon College, and William & Mary Law School, she returned home to begin her legal career breaking barriers and delivering results. At Vinson & Elkins and then Ahmad, Zavitsanos, Anaipakos, Alavi & Mensing (AZA), where she became the first woman partner, she represented Houstonians from every walk of life, including oilfield workers, doctors, and small business owners. Recognized by Best Lawyers in America and Texas SuperLawyers, Fletcher takes the most pride in the work that helped improve the lives of Houstonians.

Providing Houstonians a Better Life

In Congress, Rep. Fletcher works for real Houstonians with real problems who need common-sense solutions — not platitudes, theories, or empty promises. She is committed to Houston and the people who live there. She is a fierce advocate for reproductive freedoms and consistently speaks out against the frequent attack on reproductive health.

Rep. Fletcher has worked tirelessly to expand economic opportunity and help create good-paying jobs for hardworking Texans. She also helped increase funding for our national vaccination program, expanded national testing efforts, ramped up health services for underserved communities, and strengthened internet access. Her bill, the Expand Medicaid Now Act, passed as a part of the American Rescue Plan Act, and ensured millions of low-income Americans have access to health care.

Protect Democratic Seats

Rep. Lizzie Fletcher is a fearless voice in Congress and for her constituents and has refused to stand down as Texas Republicans attempt to pick their voters by redrawing the Texas maps and diluting the voting strength of minority communities that chose Rep. Fletcher to represent them in Congress. The fight doesn’t end here, and EMILYs List is proud to endorse her as she runs to represent the 7th Congressional District.
