A Fighter for the Hudson Valley

Liz Whitmer Gereghty has owned a small business, served on the Katonah-Lewisboro School Board, and is a two-decade resident of the Hudson Valley running to fight for the people of New York’s 17th Congressional District. Gereghty raised her family and started her business in the Katonah area, and played a critical role in leading the local school district through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. She also served as the chair of the school district’s Facilities Committee, working to improve school buildings while overseeing a budget of over $100 million. Gereghty graduated from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and also serves as a small business consultant, helping other local businesses thrive. Her approach to serving her community is all about listening — Gereghty believes in sitting down and finding solutions and common ground in order to solve problems and get things done, and that’s just what she’ll do in Congress.

A Record of Delivering Results

As a former school board member, Gereghty is passionate about addressing the full spectrum of needs that students, teachers, and parents experience and making quality education available to all. She is also committed  to fighting for commonsense gun safety reform, responding to the climate crisis, and working to restore and protect reproductive freedom and abortion access. “I’m running for Congress because while many may say we’ll never solve our biggest problems, I say we haven’t…yet,” Gereghty has said. If elected, Liz will focus on pushing back against the extremism of the Republican party and getting things done for New Yorkers.

A Must-Win Seat for Reproductive Freedom

The 17th Congressional District is currently held by Republican anti-choice extremist Rep. Mike Lawler, who eked out a victory in the 2022 election by less than a percentage point, flipping a previously blue seat red. Lawler has voted for legislation that would put doctors who provide abortion care at risk of prosecution and spread disinformation about reproductive health care, and he must be defeated in the 2024 election if Democrats are to regain control of the U.S. House. Let’s show Gereghty the full support of the EMILYs List community as she seeks to become the next representative for New York’s 17th Congressional District and be a leader that New Yorkers can count on to defend their rights.
