State Sen. Kelly Morrison is an obstetrician gynecologist and sixth-generation Minnesotan who currently represents the state’s 45th Senate District. She first ran for office in 2018, was elected to the state House, and served two terms before being elected to the state Senate in 2022, flipping both seats from red to blue. She has had EMILYs List’s support every step of the way. In the state legislature she has been a prolific fighter for Minnesotans, helping to pass over 80 bills in her five years of service. As an OBGYN, Morrison has seen firsthand the difference affordable, accessible reproductive health care can make, and she knows how critical it is for every Minnesotan to be able to afford the care and medication they need. In Congress, she will fight for our rights and defend our freedoms, just like she has in the state legislature. Morrison is a mother of three and lives with her husband John in Deephaven, Minnesota.

A Pro-Choice Champion for Her State

Morrison is an indisputable pro-choice champion who is committed to restoring abortion access across the nation and stopping the extremist Republican agenda to ban it entirely. As a doctor, she will also fight to lower prescription drug costs, expand access to affordable health care, and improve maternal health outcomes. Morrison is committed to standing up for the issues Minnesotans care about most: improving the education system, ending gun violence, strengthening public safety, and protecting Minnesota’s environment and lakes.

A Must-Hold Seat in the U.S. House

Residents of Minnesota are fortunate to have expanded access to reproductive health care thanks to the hard work of Democrats in the state legislature, who have doubled down on protecting our freedoms since Roe v. Wade was overturned. But if there’s one thing we know, it’s that Republicans never sleep when it comes to taking away abortion access — and if they get the chance, they’ll pass a national ban at any cost that will affect Minnesotans and all Americans. It is more important than ever that we hold every Democratic seat in the U.S. House, and with Morrison in office, Minnesotans can be confident that they have a leader who will never back down in the face of rampant anti-choice extremism.
