An Experienced Advocate Fighting for Change

Julie Lythcott-Haims is an educator, author, advocate, and lawyer running to be a champion for California’s 16th Congressional District. Lythcott-Haims is also a current Palo Alto councilmember and has taken the lead on affordable housing, youth mental health, and climate change in her district. She is a New York Times bestselling author of multiple nonfiction books on human development and has received multiple awards and recognitions for her public service and advocacy efforts. Lythcott-Haims holds degrees from Stanford, Harvard Law, and California College of the Arts, and lives with her partner Dan in Palo Alto.

A Champion for Reproductive Freedom

Lythcott-Haims is committed to defeating any Republican attempts in the U.S. House to ban or restrict abortion nationwide, assuring Californians that the reproductive freedom they enjoy will never be taken away. She will also work to combat climate change, bring down the cost of living, fight for gun safety legislation, and protect democracy from disinformation and election interference.

A Must-Hold Seat to Take Back the U.S. House

Lythcott-Haims is running to continue the strong pro-choice tradition of the 16th Congressional District, which is currently represented by retiring three-decade Rep. Anna Eshoo. As the only woman in a race against 10 men to replace a congresswoman and in the post-Dobbs era, where women make up only 28% of Congress, we can’t erode our women representation in the House. This district is a must-hold seat for Democrats as we work to retake the U.S. House in 2024 and protect abortion rights for all, and EMILYs List is ready to stand by Lythcott-Haims all the way.
