Putting Illinois Families First

Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton was born and raised in Illinois, and she has dedicated her life to public service and to uplifting working families. Juliana’s priorities are rooted in her own experiences – as a mother, a lifelong public servant, and a daughter who served as primary caretaker for her mother during her battle with Alzheimer’s – that’s why she’s focused on policies that will uplift Illinois’ working and middle class families: making life more affordable, creating and expanding economic opportunities, and protecting our rights and freedoms.

For the past six years, she has served as lieutenant governor of Illinois, becoming a trusted voice for communities across the state. During her time in office, she has worked alongside Gov. JB Pritzker to raise wages, lower prescription drug costs, relieve medical debt for thousands of families, and invest in education from early childhood programs to public schools. She has helped create jobs and expand opportunities in 21st-century industries, ensuring workers can access higher-paying careers and families can build better lives.

Building a Stronger Future

Juliana believes government must be a partner to working people, not a barrier. She is focused on lowering costs, making life more affordable, and ensuring that every Illinoisan has the chance to succeed. As Donald Trump continues to push an agenda that has raised costs for working families to benefit the ultra wealthy, Juliana will fight for the people of Illinois.

Juliana has been a strong advocate for reproductive rights throughout her entire career. As a state legislator she led the fight for HB 40, a bill that ensured Illinois women would have access to abortion care regardless of the insurance coverage they had, and as Lt. Gov. she worked with Illinois lawmakers to pass the landmark Reproductive Health Act, which enshrined abortion access into state law.

From her time as a state legislator to her service as lieutenant governor, she has proven that progress is possible when we put people first.

Making History in Illinois

Juliana is running for the U.S. Senate seat that has been held by retiring Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin since 1997. If elected, we will elect Illinois an all-women Senate delegation for the first time and give Senator Duckworth a strong governing partner at this critical moment.

Juliana is ready to bring the same fight she has shown as lieutenant governor to the Senate, working every day to create an economy that works for everyone, protect our rights, and build a future where Illinois families can thrive. EMILYs List is proud to support Juliana in this critical race.
