Janet Mills has never backed down from a bully. She has fought Trump head on, beating him in court when he tried to cut Maine’s school lunch program. As governor, she expanded health care to more than 100,000 Mainers, guaranteed free meals to all Maine school kids, enacted free community college, fully funded Maine schools for the first time, made the largest investment in housing in Maine history, signed paid family medical leave into law, protected and expanded access to abortion, and fought climate change. As attorney general, she took on the Big Banks and Big Pharma, protecting working people and vulnerable Maine seniors.

From being the first woman to be elected as a district attorney in New England, to being the first and only woman to serve as attorney general of Maine, to becoming the first woman governor of Maine, Janet Mills has not only proven she can win but that those who underestimate her are wrong. She is the only Maine Democrat to have won statewide office in the past 20 years, earning more votes than any governor in Maine history and winning both of her elections with more than 50 percent of the vote — the first governor to do so in more than 50 years.
