Hannah Pingree
A Proven Leader for Maine
Hannah Pingree is a lifelong Mainer, community leader, and mom who has spent her career bringing people together and delivering results for Maine families. Born in Belfast and raised on the island of North Haven, Hannah was elected to the Maine House at just 26 years old and went on to become the youngest woman in the nation and only the second woman in Maine history to serve as Speaker of the House. During her time in the Legislature, she built a reputation for working across the aisle to get things done, helping lower healthcare costs, expand broadband access, invest in clean energy, improve housing access, protect reproductive rights, and pass marriage equality. She also championed the Kid-Safe Products Act, landmark legislation that protected children from toxic chemicals and helped drive national reforms.
Delivering Results for Maine Families
After serving eight years in the Legislature, Hannah continued serving her community by running a small business, leading a local housing organization, and chairing her local school board. In 2019, Governor Janet Mills appointed her to lead the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future, where she helped tackle some of Maine’s biggest challenges, including housing, workforce development, economic recovery, and climate resilience. Whether in local government, the State House, or the governor’s office, Hannah has built a record of solving problems and putting Maine people first.
A Critical Race for Maine’s Future
At a time when our fundamental freedoms are under attack and working families are feeling squeezed by rising costs, Maine needs a governor with the experience and determination to deliver results and stand up for its people. Hannah has spent more than two decades fighting for Maine families and has proven she can bring people together to take on tough challenges and move the state forward. EMILYs List is proud to support Hannah Pingree and help elect a governor who will protect Maine’s progress and continue building a stronger future for every community across the state.
