Crystal Quade
Fighting for Rural America
Crystal Quade was raised in rural Missouri and became the first in her family to graduate from high school. She attended Missouri State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in social work. After graduating, she worked for Senator Claire McCaskill and Organizing for America before becoming a social worker and a mom.
Elected to Serve
Quade was elected to represent Missouri’s 132nd State House District in Nov. 2016, becoming the only elected Democrat in the southern half of Missouri. She is passionate about fighting for families like the one she grew up in, restoring reproductive freedoms, and standing up against corporate special interests. She was first elected Minority Leader in 2018, and is the longest serving leader for either party since term limits. . Quade currently serves as a board member for Better Life in Recovery In 2017, Quade was named one of Springfield Business Journal’s 12 People You Need to Know, in 2018 was awarded SBJ’s 40 under 40, and in 2019 was honored as one of Springfield’s Most Influential Women.
Protect Missourians from Anti-Choice Extremists
Quade is running for governor of Missouri, an office currently held by Republican Mike Parson. Voters in Missouri are ready to hold extremists accountable after being forced to live in a state with one of the most extreme anti-abortion bans in the country which bans abortion in cases of rape and incest with very limited exceptions for the life of the mother that have left Missourians bleeding out, not close enough to death for care. Missouri will havea ballot measure to enshrine abortion rights into the state’s constitution this November and Quade is running to fight against anti-abortion extremists and defend reproductive freedom, birth control, and IVF. Her opponent is Mike Kehoe, an anti-choice extremist who fully supported the passage of Missouri’s near-total abortion ban and even helped defeat the effort to add exceptions for rape and incest. If elected, Quade would be the first woman to serve as governor in Missouri. EMILYs List is proud to support Quade in this election and we are thrilled to see the work she will do for Missourians.
