A Trusted Prosecutor

Christina Hines was raised in a middle class family in Macomb County, where she learned the value of hard work, public service, and fighting for those who need a voice. After graduating from the University of Michigan and earning her law degree from Wayne State University Law School, she began her career in the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office in 2014. There, she handled some of the toughest cases in Michigan, including homicides, robberies, torture, and domestic violence.

Her true calling emerged in her work with survivors of sexual abuse. In 2021, Hines became Chief of the Special Victims Unit and Appeals in the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office. She led efforts to improve how communities respond to sexual assault, implemented trauma-informed interviewing and best practices for child victims, and trained dozens of law enforcement officers across Michigan. Hines also helped launch a restorative justice diversion program that gave survivors and offenders a path to resolution outside the courtroom.

She also expanded the Fair Michigan program to prosecute hate crimes against the LGBTQ+ community and led the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative to investigate and prosecute cold-case sexual assaults to bring long-overdue justice to survivors. From district courts to the Michigan Supreme Court, Hines has delivered real results in the pursuit of justice and safety for all.

Putting Michigan Families First

As a working mom raising three kids, Hines understands the pressure families are under. She’s running for Congress to fight for working people by lowering costs and creating good-paying jobs for Michiganders. Hines has a proven record of standing up for her community, and in Congress she’ll take on corporate price gouging and work to bring down the cost of essentials like prescriptions, housing, child care, groceries, and gas. She will protect and fully fund Social Security, expand access to affordable health care for everyone, and invest in the programs families count on.

A champion for small businesses and a proud ally of union workers, Hines has spent her career fighting for women and children. In Washington, she’ll make sure schools have the funding and support they need, and expand access to the trades within K-12 education and beyond. Hines will prioritize both the physical and mental health of Michigan’s kids and fight back against the big tech companies who are hurting our children on social media platforms. Hines is also running to protect working families from the damage caused by Trump’s reckless agenda — from Republican cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and education, layoffs of federal workers, to the rollback of environmental protections that put Lake St. Clair and the Great Lakes at risk. She’s ready to deliver the leadership Michigan families deserve.

Taking Back the House

Hines is running to flip Michigan’s open 10th Congressional District, one of the most competitive races in the country according to National Journal’s 2026 House Power Rankings. The seat is currently held by Republican John James, who is vacating the seat to run for governor after rubber stamping Donald Trump’s agenda in Congress. Hines is ready to meet the moment and protect our fundamental freedoms that are under attack, from reproductive rights to voting rights to economic security. As a career prosecutor, she’s taken on tough fights and delivered real results. Now she’s ready to take that same grit to Washington to stand up to the chaos and extremism threatening our democracy. We know she has what it takes and EMILYs List is proud to stand with her in this election and take back the U.S. House.
