She later made Roanoke her home, raising two children with her husband on a reporter’s and teacher’s salaries. For 25 years at The Roanoke Times, Beth reported on the families and communities of western Virginia. As the bestselling author of “Factory Man” and “Dopesick,” she exposed how corporate greed, globalization, and the opioid crisis devastated rural communities while those responsible avoided accountability. Now, Beth is running for Congress to continue that fight.
