Adelita Grijalva

A Proud Community Leader
Adelita Grijalva is a native Tucsonan, and former member of the Pima County Board of Supervisors, where she served as the first Latina Chair of the Board. Before joining the Board of Supervisors, Grijalva worked at a non-profit organization for 26 years helping young people and their families through a juvenile court diversion program. A strong community and elected leader for 22 years, she was elected five times as a governing board member for the Tucson Unified School District — Southern Arizona’s largest public school system, where she served from 2002 to 2022. She currently serves on the YWCA of Southern Arizona Board of Directors, the Parent Advisory Board for Mariachi Aztlán de Pueblo High School. She is the proud daughter of the late Congressman Raúl Grijalva.
Fighting for Arizonans’ Fundamental Freedoms
Grijalva is a strong advocate for the needs of Pima County and works with coalitions to address the biggest issues facing her community, including lowering the cost of housing, public education, environmental quality, climate resiliency, and community health and safety. Grijalva is running to stand up to Trump and Musk, who she says are “dismantling our entire democracy.”
Grijalva is a champion for reproductive freedom and abortion access in Arizona. Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade, she voted in support of abortion rights in Arizona. Additionally, while on the Pima County Board, she ensured Arizonans had access to reproductive care, and as board chair, she led efforts to rebuke the Arizona Supreme Court after they upheld the 1864 abortion ban through a resolution urging doctors, lawyers, and health officials to ignore the ban in order to continue to provide services to women who need them.
Continuing a Legacy in AZ-07
Adelita Grijalva is running to protect Arizonans’ fundamental freedoms and to stand up against Trump as he works overtime to dismantle American democracy. She is a battle-tested leader who will stop at nothing to ensure Arizonans’ have quality education, affordable health care and housing, reproductive care, and abortion access. Grijalva is ready to make her mark in Congress and continue the impactful work of her late father, Rep. Raúl Grijalva. EMILYs List is proud to support this champion for Arizona’s freedoms and we are honored to stand with her in this race.
