A Champion for Oklahoma

Cyndi Munson is a champion for Oklahoma working families. A lifelong Oklahoman, Cyndi was raised by her Vietnam veteran single father who worked multiple jobs while serving in the U.S. Army. With the help of Oklahoma’s Promise scholarship program, which provides free in-state college tuition to low-income families, she became the first person in her family to graduate from college. Cyndi spent over a decade serving Oklahoma children through non-profit work. She was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2015, becoming the first Asian-American woman elected to the Oklahoma Legislature. As minority leader, she led the bipartisan effort to repeal the state sales tax on groceries, provided tax relief to everyday Oklahomans, fought for increased funding for public schools, stood up to insurance companies, and fought against the most extreme measures in the legislature.

A Proven Leader who Puts Working Families First

Cyndi will work tirelessly to address the affordability crisis facing Oklahoma families, tackling the cost of housing, healthcare, childcare, and other skyrocketing basics every family needs. She spearheaded the successful bipartisan effort to the state sales tax on groceries, providing immediate relief to Oklahomans, and she is committed to building on her proven record of fighting for policies that make everyday life more affordable because she gets it. “I know what it’s like to get up every day and go to work and having those challenging times where you think, how am I gonna stretch this paycheck five more days to get to the end of the month,” Cyndi said. As governor, she will be a powerful champion for hardworking families and she will fight back against the extreme agenda that prioritizes special interests over economic and educational opportunity for the people of Oklahoma.

An Opportunity to Take Back Power

Incumbent Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt is term-limited, and we have an opportunity to take back power in this open race in a state where failed Republican policies are making everyday life less affordable. Cyndi is facing Republican Mike Mazzei, a corrupt, self-serving politician who won his primary by just over 2,000 votes. Trump’s approval ratings are dropping here as costs skyrocket. Cyndi puts working families first, and she has the experience and courage it will take to put a check on the chaos coming out of Washington. EMILYs List is proud to stand with her in this critical fight.
