Lauren Babb Tomlinson
A Mom and Advocate Fighting for California Families
Lauren Babb Tomlinson is a working mom, advocate, and public affairs leader who has dedicated her career to fighting for families because she knows firsthand what they’re up against. As chief public affairs officer at Planned Parenthood Advocates Mar Monte, Lauren has helped lead efforts to expand access to lifesaving health care and protect reproductive freedom across California. While in high school, Lauren stepped up to help care for her grandmother who was battling Alzheimer’s disease. Her experience instilled in her a deep belief that we have a responsibility to take care of one another — especially when times are tough — and continue to drive her commitment to public service today. Now raising a young child, she understands first hand the daily pressures families face — from rising grocery prices and housing costs to the growing burden of child care and health care expenses.
Delivering Results for Women, Families, and Communities
Throughout her career, Lauren has taken on tough fights to protect access to reproductive health care, expand affordable health coverage, and ensure fairness in the workplace. As chair of the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls, she helped lead efforts to support the economic recovery of women and families during COVID-19 and fought for equal pay. At Planned Parenthood, she has worked to expand care in underserved and rural communities while pushing back against federal cuts that have threatened access to family medicine, behavioral health care, and prenatal services. Lauren believes every family deserves access to affordable, high-quality health care and is committed to lowering prescription drug costs, and expanding Medicare. She will fight to restore funding for critical programs like Planned Parenthood, protect reproductive freedom, and ensure no one has to choose between seeing a doctor and paying their bills. She is equally focused on lowering everyday costs such as taking on price gouging, expanding housing access, supporting student debt relief, and strengthening renter protections, so families can finally get ahead.
Lauren is committed to building an economy that works for working people by investing in child care, expanding the Child Tax Credit, establishing paid family and medical leave, and strengthening support for caregivers and seniors. She believes every community deserves to feel safe and will fight for commonsense gun safety measures, including universal background checks and stronger protections to prevent gun violence. Now, she is running for Congress because families deserve leadership that understands their struggles and is ready to act.
